I can’t wait until Joe’s Pizza will be able to advertise during the Super Bowl.

$5M is the going price for a 30-second commercial during the 2018 super bowl. This price tag effectively eliminates any brand that isn’t part of multi-billion dollar company.

However, this dynamic will soon come to an end and a new era of democratization on media’s biggest stage may be around the corner. Look no further on how Facebook deploys its programmatic platform…

You don’t have to be a billion-dollar brand to advertise on Facebook. In fact, If you can afford $5 a day, you can advertise on Facebook. The same thing will happen to Super Bowl commercials and I believe it will be Facebook which will be powering this as our TVs are in a logged-in state.

Joe’s Pizza down the corner from you will be able to run a commercial during the super bowl that will reach everyone in a 2-mile radius of their Smalltown, USA location.

When the TV and computer become one they will essentially function as a giant iPad hanging on our walls. Does anyone else’s kids try to swipe the TV?

Yes, we will still see the monkeys from Career Builder during the big game, but we’ll also see commercials that are more hyperlocal and relevant to us.

Isn’t that a good thing?
